Were Margot Robbie’s Shorts in ‘Suicide Squad’ Digitally Lengthened for International Audiences?

We’ve all heard about the powers of photoshop when it comes to blurring imperfections or slimming down someone’s figure, but rarely do we hear instances of it being used to add clothing onto a subject. Surprisingly, that seems to have happened to Margot Robbie’s character, Harley Quinn, in a few different trailers for her upcoming movie, Suicide Squad.

According to a side-by-side clip posted by YouTube user BleedingCool, the trailers that aired in the United States show much shorter, more revealing shorts on Harley during a scene when she walks by her fellow cast mates. However, the international trailer uses identical shots, but this time, Harley is seen wearing longer, more conservative shorts without any of the exposure from behind that the shorts in the U.S. clip show.

Apparently, Robbie had no knowledge that some of the trailers had been altered, saying in an interview with NOVA 969’s Smallzy’s Surgery, “Having been there on the day, they were very small. Wow, I wonder if they did that…that would be extensive Photoshopping!”

However, co-star Cara Delevingne wasn’t as surprised by these findings as Robbie was, confirming that it’s a common practice by saying, “100 percent…they have to do that.”

While it’s well known that certain countries require more conservative values to be displayed in their entertainment industry, many fans were humorously outraged by the change. One commenter wrote, “This is a crime against humanity. The audacity to cover up Margot Robbie….tsk..”

Although, it’s unknown what length the shorts will actually be in the film itself, we won’t have to wait long for an answer. Luckily for us, the film is out this Friday.
