Very few people in the world of Star Wars have gone through the ringer quite like Hayden Christensen. His arrival as Anakin Skywalker (the man who would become Darth Vader) in 2002's Attack of the Clones coincided with the rise of the Internet, helpfully giving every unsavory pocket of the Star Wars fandom a chance to bash on his portrayal of the jedi.

After Christensen wrapped 2005's Revenge of the Sith, he quietly stepped away from the public eye—continuing to act, but not in any franchise on the level of Star Wars. (In my heart, Jumper is nearly there.) A little over a year ago, though, we learned that Christensen signed up to reprise Darth Vader in not one, but two Disney+ series: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka. The news was met with... moderate hype? Turns out, all of the kiddos who watched Christensen in the early aughts are adults now, with enough big kid money to buy a Disney+ subscription and take a trip down nostalgia lane. Now, the man has embraced his Star Wars return so much, that when ET Canada asked him if he'd ever lead a Darth Vader solo series, he didn't mince words. "There's more there to explore," he said. "I would love [to] continue my journey with him."

Christensen has been a total pro about what was surely a difficult experience for him, giving his all to the two prequel Star Wars outings he appeared in, only to have the original trilogy faithful tell him that he wasn't enough. Now, though, with Obi-Wan Kenobi set for a May 27 release date, Christensen is out and about promoting the show. And we've gotta say—the man looks like he's at peace. Check out what he said on The Cutaway with William Mullally when asked about reception to his re-entry into the Star Wars orbit. "It’s just been really heartwarming," he said. "I can’t tell you what it means to me but… it’s a really neat thing. I guess the moral of the story is patience."

He even gushed about putting on the big ol' Vader suit to AP Entertainment. “Putting the Vader costume back on was incredible,” Christensen said. “It comes with such a presence, you know? You put it on, and it just informs so much the way you feel. And for me, it was very sort of cathartic in a way, too, just because this is a character that has meant a lot to me, and has sort of stayed with me over the years, and getting to come back and continue with it was an emotional experience.”

Maybe in another 20 years, the cast of the Star Wars sequel trilogy will get the same love from the children who grew up with them. We're sure there's a spot in Disney+'s 2042 lineup for the grand reunion of Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega.
