It was the first night of results from the Live Show performances on Season 17 of America’s Got Talent featuring the new format: 55 contestants will be divided up into 11 acts performing over five nights and from each night, only two will go through.

Last night, the 11 acts performing were Amazing Veranica and Her Incredible Friends, Amoukanama, Ava Swiss, Avery Dixon, Ben Lapidus, Don McMillan, Drake Milligan, Lace Larrabee, NFL Players Choir, Oleksandr Yenivatov, and Stefanny and Yeeremy.

Which two will make it through?

Who was voted off of America's Got Talent Season 17?

America's Got Talent night one results show recap

The night began with a recap of the 11 performances from Tuesday night.

Simon Cowell commented on the new format saying, “In some ways, I love what we’ve done, we put more people through, but nine people are going home tonight. That said, the energy level was incredible last night.”

To kick things off, host Terry Crews called to the stage Amoukanama and Lace Larrabee, saying one act would go home and the other was still in the competition The first act still in the competition was Amoukanama, meaning Lace had to say goodbye to her AGT dreams.

The second two acts called up for their results were Oleksandr Yenivatov and NFL Players Choir. Oleksandr Yenivatov found out he was headed home, but the Players Choir got the good word they were still in the competition.

The third group to get their news were Stefanny and Yeeremy and Terry’s Golden Buzzer Avery Dixon. Stefanny and Yeeremy got the bad news that they were done, but Avery was still in the competition.

After a commercial break, Terry continued dispensing the results. It turned out that Don McMillan still had hope to make the finale, but it was over for Ava Swiss.

With one spot left in the Top 5, Terry called up Drake Milligan, Ben Lapidus, and Amazing Veranica and disclosed that the last act in the Top 5 was Drake Milligan.

Before the final two were revealed, America’s Got Talent Season 16 winner Dustin Tavella performed his special breed of magic with assistance from Love Island USA host Sarah Hyland and Sofia Vergara.

Then, in honor of Heidi Klum’s guest appearance on that night’s Password, the judges played a quick game with Simon and Howie winning 3-2.

Next, Terry whittled down the Top 5 to the Top 3: Drake Milligan, Don McMillan, and Avery Dixon before revealing that Drake Milligan was one of the two top vote getters, and he was moving on to the finale.

“I feel like you are America’s Got Talent biggest success story already,” Heidi told Drake. “You’ve sung two original songs, both which went to No. 1.”

Also, making the finale was saxophonist Avery Dixon.

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
