Welcome to Sleep Diaries, where interesting people share a week’s worth of late-night habits. They’ll tell you, the reader, how they wrap up their day, how they get to sleep, stay asleep or fall back asleep, and how they feel when they wake up in the morning. Why? Because sleep is America’s Most Wanted thing. We chase after it like an elusive elixir that'll make us look younger and feel less stressed. (Maybe because it will.) We thought by getting people to share what works for them-and doesn’t-it might help you find better ZZZs. Or at least give you something entertaining to read. This week, we have Jennifer Walsh, wellness expert, founder of Walk with Walsh video series, and co-founder of A State of Energy. Ahead, she shares the sleep aids that are key to what she calls her wellness journey.

I treat my bedroom like a sleep sanctuary. Every aspect of what I use or do before I go to bed aids me in my wellness journey, or at least I aim for that. Sleep has been elusive for me for the past few years, so I do all that I can to try and get a great night's sleep.

Monday: Crawling Into Bed

After a day of meetings for my Walk with Walsh video series, I headed to a private equity group dinner with 12 others from all different backgrounds. It was one of the those nights where the food and the conversations were so good that no one wanted to leave! Afterwards, I threw on my comfortable shoes so I could make the trek home-47 blocks of walking. I do this every chance I get. If the weather is great, why not? By the time I got home it was after 11:30 p.m., so I washed up and literally crawled into bed. I swear by Parachute's Percale bedding collection. It’s the coziest, most comfortable bedding I have ever tried. I also swear by the Magic Weighted Blanket.

Tuesday: Meet the Intellipure

Now that it’s spring and it gets lighter earlier, I very easily wake up around 5:15 a.m. without an alarm. I lace up and head to Central Park, where I lead a Wellness Walk for a group of executives. At night, I glammed up for the annual NYPD gala with my boyfriend. It’s always a lot of fun but we don’t always get to see friends since it is such a huge gathering. So afterward, we and a few friends wound up getting a night cap at a restaurant close by. We got home around midnight and I checked my Intellipure, a home air purifier, immediately. This machine is how I truly get a sound night's sleep. If my air isn’t the healthiest it can be when I am at home and sleeping, then what good is the rest of my wellness routine?

Wednesday: Dinner and a Bath

Tonight is a rare night. Neither my boyfriend nor I had plans after work so we got to cook together. Around 6 months ago we adopted a more plant-based diet, so we try to learn new ways to cook healthy food from local farms and markets. I recently spent some time at the Kripalu Yoga and Health Center in Massachusetts. I had the pleasure of not only experiencing this beautiful scenic retreat center but also met chef Jeremy and had to bring a copy of his cookbook, The Kripalu Kitchen, home with me. WOW! Whenever we make a meal from this book, we feel so good. We know it is good food, fresh from the local farms that we make at home. We never feel bloated afterward. Later, I decided to relax with a nice warm bath. I pour a packet of G.Nite Bedtime Bath Soak to help aid in a restful night of sleep. I immerse myself for 20 minutes right before I hop into bed.

Thursday: Summer Dreams

Tonight was dinner and drinks with friends on the Lower East Side and thankfully I got home on the early side, at 9 p.m. I washed up and used one of my favorite mask treatments, Foreo UFO. It’s a formula that you can use daily but tonight my skin needed some extra hydration. It was just what I needed as I lay in bed and started thinking about summer plans. To be completely honest, I sleep the best when I’m in a tent on the beach. I basically live in one all summer at the Jersey Shore and have been doing so for 30 years, long before glamping was cool.

Friday: Hydration Central

I roll out of bed and needed to get ready quickly. I slept until 7 a.m.! I have to jump on an early call to get all of the details squared away for an upcoming speech I am giving in less than a week at a conference here in NYC. I’m discussing how CBD is playing a very big role in what brands are looking to do in the beauty and wellness space. Then it’s time to head south to DC for the weekend. My boyfriend and I arrive in the afternoon, put on our walking shoes, and spend the next 6 hours on foot exploring the city and eating along the way. All of this walking also helps because I am a part of a “Workweek Hustle” group for Fitbit and we compete each week to see who has the most steps. I think all of the walking that I do helps with my sleep each night as well. I also know that my Merrell sneakers have a lot to do with my ability to continue to walk as far as I do each day. After a long week I needed to treat my skin to an overnight mask. I bring a small stash of my favorite one everywhere I travel to ensure I keep the hydration going after traveling. I love the smell and the feel of the Fresh Black Tea Firming Overnite Mask. I put it on at night and wash it off in the morning.
