This Website Is Like Airbnb for Pools

If living near a pool is a hot-weather luxury that only exists in your dreams, then you know the struggle of summer all too well. Enter: Swimply. "It’s like Airbnb for pools!" says a rep from the platform, a newly launched pool-renting site that's helping users beat the summer heat.

The platform connects pool owners with prospective pool-goers, allowing guests to book an afternoon of swimming in private pools across the country. Like on most home-rental sites, pool renters can list their backyard oases on the platform for an hourly fee, ultimately offering guests an affordable summer escape without needing to rent an entire home.

While prices vary depending on size and location, most pools are available for an average of $45 an hour, though some of the nicer listings could cost you up to $200 an hour. Most rentals typically include amenities like bathroom access, lounge chairs, and even towels in certain locations. For swimming lessons, gatherings, or an afternoon of lounging, there's no prescription for how to use your time, though it might be wise to plan ahead since many rentals need to be reserved in advance.

For those lucky people who do have a pool, considering applying to be a host. According to Swimply, all U.S.-based hosts are automatically covered by a $1,000,000 host liability guarantee and $10,000 in property damage insurance, so you have a little less to worry about. Plus, it's a great way to earn extra income.
