Calling all treasure hunters — bourbon treasure hunters, that is.

Columbus-based Watershed Distillery, in partnership with Ohio Liquor, is releasing six single barrel bourbons in 29 liquor stores throughout the state beginning May 2.

The release — billed as Ohio's bourbon treasure hunt — includes Crème de la Crème Brulée, Watershed’s only remaining barrel created from its original five-grain mash bill, or mix of grains used to make bourbon.

Out of 15 single barrels sampled, six were selected, according to a news release. All are aged more than four years in Ohio-coopered American white oak barrels, and each bottle will retail for $59.99.

The bourbons also will be offered at three tasting and bottle-signing events, hosted by Aaron Harris, Watershed's head distiller. The first is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday at Kroger, 60 Worthington Mall. The other two are slated for 3 p.m. Friday at Weiland's Market, 3600 Indianola Ave., and 6 p.m. Friday at Carfagna's Market, 1440 Gemini Place.

This is the second year of Ohio Liquor's partnership with Watershed Distillery.

“It’s exciting to see Ohio Liquor continue to expand their single barrel program, and we are really proud of these picks," said Greg Lehman, CEO of Watershed Distillery.

Single-barrel bourbons are not blended, and therefore retain the unique flavors, characteristics, and finish of the barrel in which they were aged, according to Ohio Liquor, which says no two single-barrel bourbons are ever the same.
