Although there are no easy days at the Tour, of course, with just one categorised climb, today's 182km stage four between Dax and Nogaro will provide a much needed period of relative calm after three hectic and hilly days in Northern Spain.
Travelling almost entirely due east before doubling back on itself to tackle the 4th category climb of the Côte de Dému, this stage should offer another chance for the sprinters to ply their trade.
Stage five and the race is already heading into the high mountains of the Pyrenees and a rendezvous with the giant Col de Soudet. As this climb sits halfway through the stage it is unlikely that it will effect the race outcome but it will provide an opportunity for someone to score big points in the climbers competition.
There’s likely to be more of a shake up on the final climb of the day, the vicious Col de Marie Blanque, but, a good 20km from the finish, anyone who breaks free here will have their work cut out to last all the way to the line.
Stage six is an absolute classic – a leg killer with three giant climbs including a 16km summit finish to Cauterets-Cambasque. Starting in Tarbes, the route heads south over the small Côte de Capvern-les-Bains, then passes through Arreau and arrives at the massive first category ascent of the Col d’Aspin.
Immediately after this comes one of the most legendary climbs of all time: the Col du Tourmalet. Climbing the slightly easier side via Le Mongie, this monster ascent is followed by an equally gargantuan descent to the base of the finale where we should be treated to a battle royale between Pogacar and Vingegaard.
