WATCH: Strangers Rally to Help Mom of 3-Year-Old with Cancer After Neighbor Complains About “Eyesore” House

After three-year-old Jaxen, the youngest of Randa Ragland’s five children, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma in October 2018, the family has been in the fight of their lives.

“Our lives consist of doctors visits. And clinic appointments,” Ragland wrote on Facebook. “Then we do hospital stays. For chemo and transplants. And surgeries.”

Through seven surgeries and 20 hospitalizations, the family home in Pinson, Alabama, began to slip into disrepair.

That’s when Ragland received a letter from a neighbor shaming her for her home’s appearance, claiming that her unmaintained property was an “eyesore” and suggesting that she “do better.”

“Please take pride and straighten up the exterior of your house. Your eyesore is affecting the resale value of our homes,” the note (below) reads. “Who wants to buy a house near you and look at that daily? It does not take that much effort. Do better!!!”

Upset, Ragland said she did not want to post about the note initially but decided to show “anyone and everyone” because “you never know what is going on with the next person.”

Plenty of other people were upset too. After reading her post, dozens of people—many of them strangers—started “Jaxen’s Army for Justice,” a Facebook group that’s collecting donations for Jaxen’s care and even helped fix up the family’s yard.

“They started this group for my son,” Ragland told Yahoo Lifestyle. “It is wonderful knowing people do still care, and that not everyone is self-absorbed.”

Approximately 30 people came to the Ragland home on Saturday to help with household chores and maintenance.

“It is so awesome that it has happened,” she concluded. “No one should go through this alone.”
