Sami Vatanen took a beautiful feed from Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov and put a nifty move on goaltender Keith Kinkaid to extend the Lightning’s lead to 4-1 in Game 2 on Saturday.

The only issue with the valiant effort was, well, Vatanen plays for the Devils, apparently.

Despite Vatanen doing most of the legwork on the tally, it was Kucherov who was awarded his second goal of the postseason. Needless to say (but I’ll say it anyways), with the likes of Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, Brayden Point and Tyler Johnson, the NHL’s top offensive team certainly doesn’t need any help scoring goals.

Vatanen did redeem himself with a goal (for the Devils, this time) late in the second period but, in all likelihood, that won’t be nearly enough for New Jersey to avoid going down 2-0.

The Lightning have now put up at least a five-spot in each of the first two games of this series and will, barring a miracle, head into New Jersey with the commanding 2-0 lead.
