  • Kelly Ripa, 51, decided to blot her oily skin dry during a live segment on Live with Kelly and Ryan.

  • “I'm noticing on the feed here that my face looks extra glisten-y and so I thought I would just de-glisten,” Ripa told co-host Ryan Seacrest.

  • Fans couldn't get over the hilarious moment, calling Ripa’s on-air blot so relatable.

You know when you’re out with friends and suddenly your skin decides to glisten like a hot summer day for no reason? It could be the middle of winter, and yet a thin yet highly noticeable layer of oil just decides to sweep right over your pores.

This is what allegedly happened to Kelly Ripa while shooting a live episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan, and the co-host decided to pause mid-way through their segment to blot her pores. While Ryan Seacrest was announcing their celebrity line up, Ripa pulled out one of those disposable oil-absorbing pads and began to pat her face dry.

“I'm noticing on the feed here that my face looks extra glisten-y and so I thought I would just de-glisten. Too much face oil,” Ripa said as Seacrest laughed. “There is a little bit of grease on that,” Seacrest pointed out.

“Do you think?” Ripa replied. “It's disgusting. Hello!” Ripa replied.

Fans couldn't get over the relatable moment and took to Twitter to share their thoughts. One user said, “She [is] awesome love how she keeps it real.” Another person tweeted, “Such a pro.”

This isn't the first time Ripa addressed her complexion on Live with Kelly and Ryan. In March 2020 during the pandemic, Seacrest mentioned that users were pointing out that the co-hosts’ complexions looked “shiny in our DIY show process” while they worked from home.

“First of all, let me just say, to people commenting about our appearance, ‘How dare you and you’re lucky that we actually put clothes on. It’s harder than you think to roll out of bed and come to a TV show,’” Ripa clapped back.

“I have a new outlook on life,” Ripa said, addressing their remote-work situation. “Certain things don't matter any more and my appearance is one of those things that just don't matter.”

During the pandemic, Ripa has been open about how her beauty routine has shifted. In August 2020, she poked fun at the progression of her gray roots coming in—although the star has since said she'll never join the train of celebs embracing full gray.

In addition to blotting strips for absorbing oil, Ripa opened up about the other products she swears by for glowing skin at 51. The talk show host previously told Prevention that she uses the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar, the 2 Note Renewal Facial Serum, the Uma Oils Absolute Anti-Aging Face Oil, and the La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios Light Fluid SPF 60 in her daily routine.

The star also admitted to getting Botox. We can always count on Ripa to keep it real. Keep doing you, Kelly!
