Last week Nate Florence uploaded the first part of his trip to the Solomon Islands during a massive swell. It's the first stop on his 2024 slab tour, and this time he finally wrangled his brother John to come along.
It's the most entertaining, anxiety inducing 18-minute vlog we've ever watched. And neither John or Nate even catch a wave. The slab they rocked up to during the first day — thousands of miles from a hospital and breaking below sea level over dry reef — was that sketchy. If you haven't already, it's a must watch.
At the end of the first episode, with Nate safely back on the boat after playing cat-and-mouse with the South Pacific, he wonders what the following day was going to look like.
Now we have that answer.
With the winds slightly more favorable and the swell down to a more manageable size (for the Florence bros anyway), Nate and John share a dream day of perfect, blue, rifling right tubes.
And it was completely empty.
"We had a hell time," says Nate at the end of the day, while holding his camera in one hand, and a cold beer in the other. "Just me and my brother and two of our best friends on a deserted island in the middle of the Pacific scoring barrels."
