At the Golden Globes earlier this year, two key winners of the night were Paul Giamatti and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, both of whom star in Alexander Payne's film The Holdovers. The film is set at a New England boarding school during winter break, and has quickly become an awards season favorite. Both Giamatti and Randolph are nominated at the Oscars this weekend, so if you haven't watched, now is your time.

"It’s a movie about a teacher. I play a teacher in it. My whole family, they are teachers. All of them, going back generations," Giamatti, who plays classics professor Paul in the film, said in his Golden Globes acceptance speech. "Teachers are good people. We’ve got to respect them. They do a good thing. It’s a tough job. So this is for teachers." In her acceptance speech, Randolph said playing Mary, a cook at the fictional Barton Academy, "changed my life — you have made me feel seen in so many ways that I've never imagined, and I hope I've helped you all find your inner Mary. Because there's a little bit of her in all of us."
