Although there is no official national high school basketball championship tournament, the GEICO Nationals are as close to the NCAA Tournament as we can get.

For the second straight year, the high school boys and girls tournament will take place in Fort Myers at Suncoast Credit Union Arena. Because of coronavirus restrictions in New York last year, the tournament was moved to Florida SouthWestern State College, where the City of Palms Classic is played in December.

Eight of the top boys and five of the top girls' teams from across the nation will descend for three days of play to crown mythical national champions by April 2.

Last season, Montverde took down Sunrise Christian in the championship game, 62-52. On the girls' side, Westlake (Ga.) 70 beat Paul VI (Va.) 50.
