Back in 2019, we thought the coming year would look a lot different. Instead, 2020 looks like canceled plans, lost vacations, virtual meetings, and lots of time on the couch. It doesn't look like movie premieres, large crowds clamoring to see midnight screenings, and the summer release of Wonder Woman 1984. The Patty Jenkins sequel was pushed from its original June 5 release date three times, and now will come out on October 2.
On Saturday, Warner Bros. released the newest trailer for the film starring Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig, and it features an epic fight scene. Gadot plays Wonder Woman, aka Diana Prince, who's now living in 1984 (somehow, she's able to make the outrageous looks of the 1980s appear completely enviable). Wiig plays the new villain, Barbara Minerva aka Cheetah.
In this trailer, we see Wiig as Cheetah, going at it with Gadot as Wonder Woman. Even if you don't like action movies, there's something about two female leads commanding an entire superhero film. Yes. Please.
Chris Pine is back as Steve Trevor, despite the fact that Trevor died in the original film. Resurrected Steve Trevor seems to be as confused as the rest of us about the fashion of the 1980s; when he comes out wearing an American flag fanny pack, Diana tells him, "I think we can do better." Enter: parachute pants.
"Does, does everybody parachute now?" he asks. Yeah, sorry, dude. No real answers for you there.
