Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Take a 'Hole Punch' to a Patient's Neck
In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper uses a "hole punch" to pop out a man's cysts.

The pair of cysts are likely epidermoid cysts, which are often filled with dead skin cells and keratin.
Dr. Pimple Popper just "punched" a patient in the neck—but it was for his own good. In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—uses a surgical punch to extract two cysts from a patient's neck. And, frankly, it's reminiscent of the hole punches you used in grade school to organize your copious amounts of handouts.
In the quick clip, Dr. Lee uses a surgical punch tool to remove a circle of a patient's skin in the center of the cysts. The tool breaks through skin by punching out a circle, which makes excising deeply embedded cysts easier. Once the skin is removed, Dr. Lee pinches the the cysts to pop out its already oozing contents. The result is a snake of white gunk winding its way out of the growths.
These two gunky growths are likely epidermoid cysts, which are often filled with skin cells and keratin. They commonly occurs on the face, neck, and back. Besides often being cosmetically undesirable, epidermoid cysts can be easily irritated and tender, making removal an appealing option.
"Taking a punch to the neck," Dr. Lee writes in the videos caption. But unlike boxing pros taking a painful punch to the throat, this patient will be a lot happier for it.
