Outlander's sixth season was over far too quickly–but the good news is that season seven is already filming. And to celebrate World Outlander Day this week, the cast shared a special behind-the-scenes video from the set.

Released on Outlander's official social media channels, the video finds the show's cast reuniting on the show's Scotland set. "We're gonna have a mega-sized season for you to come back to," Caitríona Balfe says, referencing the fact that season 7 will be sixteen episodes long – the longest since season 1. "So get through this next Droughtlander!"

Sophie Skelton also reveals that this is her favorite season of the show yet, and Richard Rankin concurs. And in an interview with Us Weekly, Sam Heughan offered some more details on what's to come.

"We really start off with a bang," Heughan told the outlet. "The first couple episodes are really strong, and that’s as far as we’ve got shooting-wise. But I know there’s so much that we are still about to get to. Not only that – you’ve got a lot of new characters coming in... characters that I think are anticipated by fans."

Those anticipated new characters include Jamie's adult son, William Ransom, who will be played by actor Charles Vandervaart this season. William, the child who Jamie fathered with Geneva Dunsany is now all grown up–but having been raised by Lord John Grey (David Berry), he has no idea about his real parentage.

A release date hasn't been confirmed for season 7 yet, but Deadline reported that it could premiere later in 2022, or early 2023 at the latest.
