This was anything but your standard intermission interview.

What was supposed to be a live on-air spot turned into a televised brawl between Chris DeSousa of HC Bolzano and Tom Zanoski Medvescak Zagreb during intermission of an Erste Bank Eishockey Liga game in Austria on Sunday.

DeSousa and Zanoski swapped some stick work — with one errant twig appearing to hit the reporter — before throwing down a spirited tilt right in the hallway of the dressing room area at Dom Sportova arena. A group of players, officials and security personnel teamed up to eventually break the pair apart. Both were handed fighting majors and subsequently ejected from the game, while five other players on both sides were given minor penalties.

DeSousa, a former Chicago Blackhawks prospect, has posted 19 points through 28 games this season, while Zanoski has tallied four points in 28 contests.
