If you're looking for your light and funny entertainment right now—perhaps something to take your mind off the ongoing coronavirus pandemic—The Alienist: Angel of Darkness might not be the show for you. It's dark, and often gruesome.
But if the idea of a period drama-turned-psychological thriller, with beautiful costumes and gory crime scenes intrigues you, it would make the perfect quarantine binge-watch.
The follow-up to season one of The Alienist premieres later this summer, and reunites investigators Sara Howard (played be Dakota Fanning), John Moore (Luke Evans), and the show's titular Alienist—that's an old-school term for a psychologist—Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl) in New York City in the late 1890s as they seek try to find the Spanish Consular's kidnapped baby girl.

Tune in to the premiere of Angel of Darkeness on July 19 at 9/8 p.m. central on TNT. But block out some time on your calendar; the first episode will be two hours long.
