Al Roker isn’t only a world-renowned weatherman — he’s a prankster, too!

To welcome Craig Melvin back to the Today show on May 17, after being out sick with a breakthrough case of COVID-19, Al decided to employ a little practical joke. “I wanted to make sure Craig Melvin got a good greeting when he got back ... and so, this was greeting him this morning,” the NBC meteorologist said in an Instagram video, in which he let others in on the stunt.

The prank in question? A large canvas of none other than Al himself, donning a tuxedo and raising a coup glass in a toast. Fans of the 2013 movie The Great Gatsby featuring Leonardo DiCaprio may have recognized the scene. “There you go. Here’s to you, Craig Melvin. I love you,” Al said.

While many pranks these days tend to be on the trickier, more-devilish side, Today fans couldn't help but love how wholesome Al’s version is.

“😂😂😂😂 This is the best,” one fan exclaimed in his Instagram comments section. “Lol good one, Al 😂,” another fan chuckled. “A true masterpiece.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻,” someone else added.

As it turns out, even Craig loved it! “What a perfect welcome back gift from my buddy, @alroker,” he captioned a photo of his new wall décor on Instagram. Naturally, Al couldn’t help but comment on it. “I will always love you,” the Today show anchor wrote, garnering hundreds of likes on his comment in the process.

Suffice to say, people love a bromance, and Al and Craig’s tops the list on the NBC morning show.

“He loves you, Craig! ❤️🤣 Both of you are class acts,” one fan commented on Craig’s post. “I love you and your work family and the bond,” another fan wrote. “The love [between you] guys is the sweetest & I am here for a great bromance! ❤️,” someone else chimed in.
