How to Watch the 2022 Met Gala Red Carpet

For the first time since the pandemic started, the Met Gala is returning to its traditional May calendar slot. Famed for its over the top fashion moments, the Met Ball is often considered one of the biggest red carpets of the year, attracting a who's-who of fashion designers, actors, musicians, and celebrities of all stripes, done up in the event's creative theme.

The annual theme—this year's is "gilded glamour" in homage to the Gilded Age—always serves as a nod to the Costume Institute exhibition that the gala celebrates; in this case, the second half of curator Andrew Bolton's "In America: An Anthology of Fashion." The exhibit (the first part of which, titled “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” debuted last fall) examines fashion in America and the designers, movements, and influences that have given it an impact on the global fashion scene. Included in the display are explorations of the work of creators like Halston, Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, and Ann Lowe, and approximately 100 garments in 13 rooms styled by film directors including Martin Scorsese, Julia Dash, Sofia Coppola, and Chloe Zhao, according to Vogue.

The evening will be hosted by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Regina King, as well as honorary co-chairs Anna Wintour, Tom Ford, and Adam Mosseri.
