Warriors think star Stephen Curry can return to game action during next road trip

The Golden State Warriors won’t be without Stephen Curry much longer. Curry was re-evaluated by the team’s medical staff Saturday, and it sounds like he might return to game action on the Warriors’ next road trip.

The team said the 30-year-old Curry is making “very good progress” in his return from a groin injury.

The key line in the statement reads: “It is expected Curry will begin to practice with the team next week, with the goal of playing at some point during the team’s upcoming five-game road trip.”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr expressed optimism about that timeline.

Curry has missed the last eight games due to the injury. In his absence, the team has gone 3-5. The Warriors are 13-7 on the season.

While he’s been sidelined, Curry was involved in a minor car accident. No one, including Curry, was injured.

The Warriors are set to play the Sacramento Kings on Saturday and the Orlando Magic on Monday. The team will then begin its next road trip Thursday.

In 12 games, Curry is averaging 29.5 points and 6.1 assists per game for the Warriors.
