Just when we thought a Christian Louboutin heel was the strangest makeup "hack" yet, we've noticed how some makeup artists are now swapping their mixing palettes for iPhones as a means for stirring up their foundation. Yep, you read that correctly. Instead of using the back of their hands - or any other sanitary object on the planet - people are voluntarily opting for their germ-ridden cell phones. Blegh.
The first brave soul to give this idea a try appears to be aspiring makeup artist Jake Warden. The 15-year-old recently posted the above Instagram video in which he squirts foundation directly on the backside of his case-free rose gold phone before using a Beautyblender to dab it on his face. But it didn't stop there, as he also posted a second video, this time adding a few drops of liquid highlighter before swirling the concoction on the back of his phone.
Right when we were starting to think this was an isolated case, another popular makeup maven gave the trick a whirl, similarly concocting a foundation mixture on the back of her device. Although she confirmed in her caption that she did, in fact, clean her phone before starting her tutorial, we still think there are far better options for stirring up foundation.
We're really hoping this "hack" stops in its tracks, because let's face it: iPhones are havens for bacteria. Choosing to purposely blot those germs all over one's face seems like a surefire way to achieve a nasty breakout. But aside from the obvious hygienic concerns, this could do some serious damage to your phone if some of that makeup dripped its way into the headphone jack or charging port.
Might we suggest a mixing palette made for the purpose of blending makeup? Let's let phones be phones and nothing more.

And if you simply have to succumb to the hype and put this hack to the test, we recommend giving your cell phone a thorough wipe-down with one (and maybe two) of these before getting down to business.
