- Meghan Markle has updated her engagement ring.
- Her original ring had a solid gold band, and her new ring has a micro-pavé diamond band.
Remember how Meghan Markle rolled into Trooping the Colour and casually debuted an eternity band from Prince Harry? Yeah, well apparently we were all so distracted by her new diamonds that we forgot to notice a *major* upgrade to her old ones.
Town & Country and Hello! point out that Meghan appears to have upgraded her engagement ring, exchanging the simple gold band for a micro-pavé one. The ring actually first seems to have shown up when Meghan and Prince Harry debuted their son Archie to the world, but we were obviously all so distracted by a cute lil' baby that no one bothered to pay attention to the sparkly row of new diamonds on Meghan's finger.
Here's a closer look at the new setting:
While this is what the ring looked like before:
Of course, this could be an entirely new ring made to look like the old ring. Why would Meghan do such a thing, you ask? It's common for fingers to swell during pregnancy, and perhaps Meghan was unable to wear her original ring as a result! Or maybe she just wanted a fancier band.
Either way, Harry had emphasized Meghan's love of her gold band during their engagement interview, saying "The ring is obviously yellow gold because that's her favorite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother's jewelry collection, to make sure that she's with us on this crazy journey together."
