From emotional wrecks to angry commuters, we’ve seen it all when it comes to public transportation. However, this brand-new photo is making us do a double-take for all the right reasons.
Queen Elizabeth was spotted today deboarding the train at King’s Lynn Station in King’s Lynn, England. (Yes, you read that right. She casually rode the train like a normal person.) Like she does every year, Her Majesty took the train from London King’s Cross to the station closest to her holiday respite, Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England. There, Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royals will celebrate Christmas.
Although the queen’s annual train ride is shrouded in tradition (she’s been riding the train up to Sandringham for years), this year she went a little off-script with her outfit. It was a Christmas miracle if we do say so ourselves and we’re totally vibing with it.
For reference, last year Queen Elizabeth made the trip dressed in chic neutrals and a Burberry headscarf.
1. Last Year’s Train Outfit
Note the camel button-down coat, the incognito scarf and the signature Gucci horsebit loafers ($730). So much yes.
2. Last Year’s Luggage Situation
Despite her I’m-trying-to-blend-in outfit, Queen Elizabeth was accompanied by her assistant, who carried her purse, flowers and briefcase with a luggage tag labeled “The Queen.”
3.Pretty in Pink for This Year’s Train Trip
This year, however, Queen Elizabeth forewent her blending in with the common folk approach and peacocked in a pastel pink bouclé coat over a bubblegum pink pleated dress. For her headscarf, Her Majesty selected a beautiful blue and pink printed piece. She even swiped on some fuchsia lipstick. On the accessories front, she stuck with her tried and true: Gucci loafers and a black Launer handbag.
4. Same Luggage, New Accoutrements
Queen Elizabeth stuck with the same luggage as last year, but swapped out her bouquet (likely from a well-wisher) and added a plaid blanket for good measure.
Her Majesty is just full of surprises.
