NCIS: Los Angeles has delivered plenty of twists and turns over the years, but could Deeks really be leaving the show?

That’s what everyone’s wondering after the most recent episodes. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a major character left the NCIS universe. Pauley Perrette broke hearts when she said goodbye to Abby. The same can be said of Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly, who played Ziva and Tony, respectively. But could Eric Christian Olsen’s exit actually be on the horizon?

Let’s back up to what started this whole rumor mill. To put it plainly, things aren’t going too well for Deeks and his wife Kensi (Daniela Ruah).

She’s playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a very clever killer, which would be distraction enough. But then NCIS: LA revealed that Deeks’s job as a liaison between the NCIS and the LAPD is done—permanently. Watching him realize it brought on a lot of tears, because for most shows, that signals one thing: They’re trying to prepare you emotionally for a goodbye. Naturally, the NCIS fan-verse freaked out.

But before you cut the TV cord, get a load of this good news: Daniela spoke out and all but confirmed that Eric and Deeks aren’t going anywhere.

“Listen, if Eric were leaving the show permanently, we would know about that by now, and that’s obviously not the case,” she told TVLine. “So, somewhere and somehow, things happen that change the course of where the story is going.”

Everyone take a deep breath! It sounds like he’s safe, at least for now. So let’s all put our energy into something more productive, like waiting on pins and needles for a #Densi pregnancy.
