Volusia Speedway's February dirt-track schedule loaded for 'speed WEEKS' in Barberville

NASCAR’s February visit to Daytona Beach has been boiled down to five days, but in Barberville, “speed weeks” lives on.

The Dirtcar Nationals return to Volusia Speedway Park for 13 nights of racing on the half-mile oval — five divisions of cars from seven different series will get down and dirty from Feb. 6-18.

The seven series: World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and Late Models, Super DIRTcar, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, DIRTcar Late Models, USAC non-wing Sprint Cars, All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars.

DIRTcar UMP Modifieds will run from Feb. 6-11. Seven-time defending champ Nick Hoffman is reportedly focusing on his Late Model racing, which means a new Volusia champion is assured. Among the current and former NASCAR racers expected to race are Justin Allgaier, David Stremme, Matt Crafton and David and Buzzie Reutimann.

For five of those six nights, Feb. 7-11, the modifieds will share the dirt with Sprint Car. Racers expected include 10-time World of Outlaws champ Donny Schatz and defending series champ Brad Sweet.

After an off night on Sunday, Feb. 12, the final week will include USAC’s non-winged Sprints, DIRTcarLate Models, Super DIRTcar, World of Outlaws Late Models, and World of Outlaw Sprints — all on the banked oval that bills itself as “The World’s Fastest Half Mile.”

Former NASCAR star Kasey Kahne, who retired from the Cup Series after 2018, is entering his second full-time season in the World of Outlaw Sprints. Last year, Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman were among the NASCAR racers who moonlighted in Sprint Cars at Volusia, while Ricky Stenhouse competed in Barberville last week in the Southern Sprint Car Shootout.
