Not too long ago, The Voice crowned the sibling trio Girl Named Tom the winner of season 21 and made history. Now, fans of the NBC singing competition series will have to resort to watching replays of their favorite contestants’ performances on YouTube because in a twist of events, The Voice won’t be resuming its search for the next champion anytime soon.

ICYMI: Voice coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Ariana Grande might be on break until the leaves turn brown again. Keep on reading to find out more important information about the next season of The Voice.

When is The Voice returning to NBC for season 22?

The Voice has not been renewed for season 22 in 2022. But when the show does come back, The Voice will not be returning to NBC with new episodes this February/March. Instead, the show will most likely come back with new episodes in the fall around September.

Since its official debut in April 2011, The Voice has had two cycles every year (spring and fall). But in May 2021, ahead of the season 20 finale, NBC announced that The Voice would only be airing one season per year starting in 2022. Now, more than a decade in, the network is thinking of the hit show’s longevity.

“Going into the 21st cycle in the fall, The Voice remains one of the most popular shows on television and we want to keep it that way,” said Frances Berwick, Chairman of Entertainment Networks at NBCUniversal Television, according to Deadline. “We want to eventize this iconic series. We think The Voice will be on NBC for a very long time to come and we believe the best way to protect the brand, while also superserving fans is to produce one amazing cycle this year.”

Who are The Voice season 22 coaches?

The Voice welcomed newcomer Ariana Grande to the show for season 21. After taking over coaching duties for Nick Jonas and experiencing her first Blind Auditions/Battles/Knockouts, will the “Positions” singer return to her red swivel chair? It’s too soon to tell and the same goes for longtime coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend.

Though Voice fans have kept their eyes on Blake and John in anticipation that both might make a departure announcement — the country star has talked about retiring and the R&B artist has a Las Vegas residency coming up — it doesn’t seem that this will happen. While we wait for formal announcement, we'll keep crossing our fingers that all four coaches are locked down for The Voice season 22.
