Vlogger Takes Kids to Montreal Amusement Park in First Visit Since Pandemic Closure

Canadian vlogger and lawyer David Freiheit on May 30 took a trip to Montreal’s La Ronde amusement park with his children in their first visit since its 2020 closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the video, Freiheit and his two daughters are required to wear a mask as they enjoy the park’s exhilarating rides, including the Vol Ultime, the Orbite and the Vampire. He and one of his daughter’s also braved the Sling Shot, which he said hit 160 km/h.

Moments before being flung through the air on the Vol Ultime, Freiheit jokes, “I hope they did maintenance on these things.”

The vlogger told Storyful that while people were “awkwardly trying to socially distance” and “having the mask on all the time is a little tough,” the trio “all had fun.”

“[It’s] difficult not to have fun at an amusement park,” he said. “Although we did have a good laugh at the idea of wearing a face mask while blasting through the air at 160 km an hour!”

La Ronde reopened on May 22 with capacity restrictions. Since re-opening, the park has had entry tickets sold out on multiple days. Credit: David Freiheit via Storyful
