You Can Visit the Quaint Diner Where Hallmark's 'The Mistletoe Secret' Was Filmed
Hallmark’s 10th annual Countdown to Christmas has arrived with a big batch of brand-new Christmas flicks to cozy up with over a wintery drink and a roaring fire.
One of the newest releases, called The Mistletoe Secret, stars Kellie Pickler and Patrick Duffy. It takes place in a small town in Utah set against a beautiful snowy backdrop. It’s the ideal setting for a movie centered around the equally charming Mistletoe Diner, and the owner's quest to revive the struggling town.
But despite looking like an American mountain town, the movie was actually filmed in Aldergrove, a quaint Canadian city just outside of Vancouver. Despite shooting in August, the movie transformed Aldergrove’s downtown center into a Christmas winter wonderland.
Filming took place inside stores and along storefronts, according to the local paper The Aldergrove Star. Plenty of decorations were brought in to maximize the movie’s Christmas spirit, including twinkling lights, adorned wreaths, and tall Christmas trees. The crew even brought in real snow to line the sidewalks and mounds of ice to add to the effect, the outlet reported.
Even better, the movie's Mistletoe Diner is actually a real-life restaurant. The crew transformed Bob’s Bar ‘n’ Grill in Aldergrove into the fictional food hotspot by hanging a new sign and covering the exterior with garland and ribbon to add to the Christmas spirit.

When you're done visiting the diner, there’s plenty more you can do in Aldergrove should you decide to step into the casts' shoes. You can catch the annual Christmas Light Up Parade, visit alpaca at the Kensington Prairie Farm, or watch a movie at the Twilight Drive In in the warmer months.
In the movie, diner owner Aria (Kellie) is desperate to put hometown Midway, Utah back on the map as a Christmas destination. Enter travel writer Sterling (Christopher Russell) and Alex (Tyler Hynes) who is his secret ghostwriter. Despite Sterling’s charm, Aria thinks Alex might be the one for her—if only he can prove it in time. We’ll be tuning in on November 10 to see what will happen!
