You Can Visit These Castles and Houses From "Spencer"
Spencer takes viewers inside the life and struggles of Princess Diana. And while the main focus of the film's plot is the marriage between the People's Princess and Prince Charles, its scenes are all set against the backdrop of a number of imposing filming locations throughout Germany and England. These locales serve to elevate the movie's drama and underscore the intensity of life for Diana within the royal family. Below, House Beautiful has rounded up a list of four sites from the movie that you can visit in real life.
Nordkirchen Castle, Nordkirchen, Germany
Acting as the exterior of Sandringham House in Spencer, Nordkirchen Castle was mainly built between 1703 and 1734 and it served as a home to Prince-Bishopric of Münster. Architects Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius, Peter Pictorius the Younger, and Johann Conrad Schlaun designed the structure.
Schloss Marquardt, Potsdam, Germany
Schloss Marquardt acted as the interior of Park House for Spencer, specifically spots like the wood-paneled staircase that can be seen towards the end of the film. Park House is where Princess Diana spent her early childhood years.
Schlosshotel Kronberg, Frankfurt, Germany
As its name suggests, Schlosshotel Kronberg is a hotel (book a stay here!) that includes 62 rooms and suites. Guests are treated to sweeping views of the Frankfurt skyline, as well as the Kronberg Castle and its accompanying historic park. It acts as Sandringham House’s interiors in Spencer.
St. Peter & St. Paul's Church, Shropham, England
In Spencer, St. Peter & St. Paul's Church acts as both the interior and exterior of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, where members of the British Royal family often attend services.
