Virginia Department of Health: Tick season is approaching

VIRGINIA (DC News Now) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) warns that while warm weather invites us out, it also invites ticks out as well.

VDH said that blacklegged tick season starts in early May and will go through August. These ticks are also called deer ticks.
