Virginia Animal Shelter Makes Plea to Find People Who Abandoned Dogs in Dumpster
A shelter out of Richmond, Virginia shared a post on October 20 where they are asking for help finding the person or people who are responsible for abandoning a four-month-old pit bull puppy, where another dog was abandoned this year, at the same location at a dumpster.
Shelter workers go through so much, the last thing anyone needs is dogs being dumped like trash outside.
Richmond Animal Care and Control shared the post to their Facebook page and it's so infuriating. The post reads in part, "It’s Friday—help us FIND the person(s) responsible for abandoning their dog like trash. This is the second time we’ve found a dog in this exact location and situation. What is HAPPENING?!? Anyone recognize this 4 month old female pitty puppy?"
Facebook users are rightfully furious, and @Mary Ann comments, "That's so Sad. People need to get in trouble for doing this. Then maybe they might stop..Awful people do Awful things. No Heart." @Cheri adds, "What the heck is wrong with people!?!?!? Shelters need to stop turning people away when they call or bring animals. This is what happens when they are turned away. Or worse!! People dump them on old back roads where I live. Some are found in time, others aren’t. Vets need to do more by helping with low cost spay/ neuter days. ALL VETS!! Thank God she was found in time and will now get the love she deserves Thank you all for doing what you do even though y’all are full as well."
There are so many shelters that are overcrowded and lacking volunteers and resources, but that is never an excuse to dump a dog outside.
If you would like to make a donation, offer to volunteer, or see all the dogs and cats the shelter has available, you can visit their website here.
