To all Virgin River fans out there, we have some interesting news! In a recent interview, Daniel Gillies, the actor who plays Mark Monroe on the show, hinted that there might more to come from Mel and Mark's backstory. From the interview with Mr. WarBurton Magazine, when being asked about season 4, the Canadian-born actor said, "Here’s what I’ll say, somewhat enigmatically: the good news about being the dead husband is that you can appear at any time. I’ll leave it at that." Pretty cryptic, right?

[SPOILERS AHEAD!]

And while we wait at the edge of our seats for season 4 to be confirmed, filmed and aired, let's look back at this third season that was filled with a whirlwind of tension, romance and heartbreak.

The main off-and-on couple, Mel and Jack (played by Martin Henderson), started the season finally in a place of stability in their relationship. However, most of this season also focused on Mel's desire to have a baby and Jack's uncertainty about it because his ex-girlfriend Charmaine is already pregnant with twins.

As a result, Mel and Jack break up briefly, and Mel goes to see a fertility specialist. This, of course, brings her back to the fertility struggles she faced with Mark before he died. And though Jack and Mel's breakup is brief, we later find out Mel underwent IVF with an embryo she saved from her dead husband and is pregnant.

Season 3 ends with Jack and Mel reunited and Jack proposing to her. For the final twist of the season, Mel tells Jack she’s pregnant and he tells her it's good news and that he's "all-in." But, who's baby even is it?

Now that season 4 has dropped, we can confirm Mark's return to Virgin River. He appears at the very beginning of the first episode, titled "Be My Baby." Mel and Jack are walking together and discussing baby names when Mark appears and kisses Mel. Jack looks stunned, but then viewers realized that it was all Jack's dream (whew!).

Stay tuned to see if Mark turns up again in season 5!
