Hair-do's can make or break an outfit, and it can be challenging and time-consuming to achieve that salon-fresh blowout look, especially if you're new to the craft. Luckily, if you struggle with this, there's a solution for all your blowout problems—enter this viral ponytail hack.

In a TikTok that now has over 4 million views, Marena (@marenanicole) walks us through her express blowout routine. In the clip, she puts her hair up into a ponytail, then uses the Dyson Airwrap and large barrel curlers to create lots of volume in her hair. In a matter of minutes, she is left with big, bouncy curls.

The clip has since spawned the #ponytailblowout trend on the platform, in which thousands of people have posted their experience using the hack—most of them claiming that it takes less than 15 minutes to do their hair now. Here's how to do it, according to Marena.

How to Use The Viral Ponytail Blowout Hack

What You'll Need

  • Hair heat protectant

  • Heated curling tool

  • Large barrel rollers

  • Sectioning clips

  • Scrunchies

Step 1

Apply the heat protectant all throughout your hair. (No heat damage around here!)

Step 2

Take the front section of your hair and tie it in front of your face, ensuring its kept separate from the rest of your hair.

Step 3

Tilt your head down, and tie the rest of your hair in a high ponytail with a scrunchie. The ponytail should be at or near the crown of your head.

Step 4

Take the tie out from the front of your hair. Then, section the ponytail into four equal parts.

Step 5

Take one section and use your heated curling tool to roll your hair towards the crown of your head. (The barrel of the tool should be under your hair when you begin rolling upwards.) Hold the curl with the tool for a few seconds before sliding it out, and then secure the curl's shape with a large barrel roller. Clip the rollers into place. Repeat this step for all four sections of the ponytail.

Step 6

Take the front section of your hair and roll it towards the crown of your head using the heated tool. Ensure that the barrel of the tool is positioned over this section of the hair, creating curls that form in the opposite direction from the back of your hair. Secure the curl's shape with a large barrel roller and clip it into place.

Step 7

After a few minutes, take out the rollers from the ponytail and front section of your hair. Then, take the scrunchie out. Flip your hair over and give it a gentle shake.

Step 8

Style your hair as normal and enjoy your fabulous new look!
