Remembering the master painter's moments in high fashion
Over the course of his life, Vincent van Gogh produced over 2,000 works of art. His love of nature and flowers led to his creation of some of the most popular landscape images of the post-impressionism era, if not of all time. Born in the Netherlands in 1853, Van Gogh found inspiration for his paintings throughout the Dutch countryside. Unfortunately, he found little success as an artist during his lifetime. Known as a madman, Van Gogh allegedly committed suicide in 1890 at the age of 37. Today, his art is considered to be some of the most valuable works to come from the 19th century. With their saturated colors and expressive brushstrokes, Van Gogh's paintings are rich with inspiration for artists across various media. In fashion, Van Gogh's work can be seen in pieces anywhere from the house of Dior to Jeremy Scott's animated designs for Moschino. Continue on to see the Dutch painter's impact on high fashion.
