Vince Carter's washed sneakers are a metaphor for life
Vince Carter’s shoes have become a metaphor for the passage of time. Against Oklahoma City, Carter opted to rock his 2004 Shox VC 4’s. After any hope of a Vinsanity-Raptors reunion dissipated this week, this became Carter’s latest method of living in the past and it seemed to be a sound decision early on.
There’s no telling how much wear Vince had on the pair or how long he’s owned them. They may also be part of Nike’s retro release of the Shox line or Carter continuing his futile attempts to convince Nike they should retro his sneaker line but it didn’t seem to matter.
In the second quarter, Vince Carter, pump faked Patrick Peterson out of his own shoes, infiltrated the paint, rose up, cocked it back and gingerly flushed the rock.

However, the Shox VC 4’s met a timely death while Carter, 41, attempted to guard Jerami Grant and the sole of his sneakers exploded. All we can hope is that his sole find peace in its next life, but as they flapped haphazardly on the end of Carter’s feet, it represented an entire generation who are unable to realize they’re now washed.
