Vikings: Valhalla fans are all saying the same thing about Freydis and Harald

After nearly a year of waiting, Vikings: Valhalla has finally returned to Netflix for a second season and we could not be more excited to dive back into one of our favourite historical dramas.

The Netflix show is set in the early 11th century, where tensions are rising between the Vikings and the English, as well as between the Vikings themselves as they battle over Christian and Pagan beliefs. Brother and sister Leif and Freydis, join forces with Harald Sigurdsson to complete an epic journey.

Season two begins after the Battle for Kattegat, where we're reintroduced to one of our favourite Viking couples, Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) and Harald (Leo Suter). Except, don't expect to get too comfortable watching these two happily together as by the end of episode one, the couple break up. Yep, we're still not over it.

Freydis and Harald end their relationship mutually, on what appeared to be good terms, as they both wanted to head in separate directions. Harald is still on his quest to become King of Norway, and Freydis wanted to head to Jomsborg to declare a new Uppsala. It makes sense why they had to breakup, but we're still not happy about it.

And it appears people online are sharing our heartbreak too, as many Vikings: Valhalla fans have been tweeting their shock and disappointment the couple are over.

One person tweeted: "Anyone else bummed out that Harald and Freydis broke up, or is it just me? 😭 😭"

Another said: "I understand why they had to divide Freydis and Harald up but I was still very sad."

And another summed up how we're all feeling when they said: "Ok Vikings Valhalla 2 time and omg Freydis and Harald 🥺🥺🥺."

However, is this really the end of Freydis and Harald? We've got a sneaky suspicion it won't be.

As revealed in episode one of the new season, Freydis is pregnant with Harald's child aka a potential heir to the throne of Norway. And (spoiler alert!) in episode five she gives birth to a son whom she names Harald.

Surely at some point the pair will have to reunite, at the very least so Freydis can let Harald know he has an heir?

We're keeping our fingers crossed for a reunion in season three.
