Video premiere: New-generation family band 13 Crowns debuts 'Grateful'

Music fans who recall and love the hits of the ’80s will be sure to recall the family band the Jets, a group of brothers and sisters who landed on the charts with such upbeat tunes as “Crush on You,” “You Got It All,” “Cross My Broken Heart” and “Sendin’ All My Love.” Now the legacy continues with a new-generation sibling band — 13 Crowns.

Haini Wolfgramm, who was the bassist for the Jets, is dad to 11 kids, the eldest seven of whom make up 13 Crowns. Yahoo Music is excited to premiere the band’s video for the single “Grateful.”

The fun video shows the family members supporting each other even in the face of catastrophe. As they wake up late for their video shoot, the seven scramble to get ready, find their lost car keys, and race to the studio. Upon arrival, the group is met with a stylist who tries to change their look — yet they choose to remain true to themselves and change out of the flashy clothes to do what they know best: the music.

Keyboardist Eve Wolfgramm explains, “When they presented the concept to us for the video, we had to laugh, because it was so close to our real-life scenarios. Trying to wake up on time and the chaos of getting ready. Looking for this or that and trying to get all the instruments loaded. It felt all too natural.”

“We had a lot of fun filming the scene in our pajamas,” adds guitarist Maikeli Wolfgramm. “I’m not a big fan of hair and makeup, and this scene was just about jumping out of bed and shooting chaos. I loved it.”

“Grateful,” released on Sept. 11, was written by Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd (Justin Bieber, Usher, 112, Chris Brown, Big Boi). It’s included on 13 Crowns’ upcoming five-song EP, which will be out this winter. If you’d like to keep up with the band’s schedule, check here.
