There have been plenty of brands to come under fire for not having enough foundation shades for darker skin tones, and Neutrogena is determined not to be one of them. The global brand had received some feedback from women who were having a difficult time finding their best makeup match in Neutrogena’s line of foundations. In response to the obvious disappointment, the brand decided to launch four new foundation shades in an effort to widen its range. Exciting as that is, the true kicker is the way in which Neutrogena announced the new colors using none other than its celebrity brand ambassador and creative consultant — Kerry Washington.
Instead of a simple television commercial or print advertisement, Neutrogena decided to have Washington directly reach out — via FaceTime — to announce the new shades to those who had expressed their disappointment in the brand’s color range. Genius.
