From Town & Country

The Queen's Coldstream Guards are responsible for protecting Her Majesty's palaces and properties, and they are a serious bunch that do not take kindly to pranks or banter.

But when a young boy celebrating his birthday got all dressed up in a guard's uniform for a recent visit to Windsor Castle, one of them couldn't resist giving the little guy a special treat.

Four-year-old Marshall Scott was at Windsor Castle with his mother, Imogen Scott, and he saluted the Queen's Guards as they marched past him. While the guards traditionally remain detached from guests and the public (don't even think of getting in their way), one of them, Lance Corporal Paul Edden, posed for a photo with the boy.

"I just remember when I was younger when I wanted a picture with a soldier, and seeing Marshall in a Coldstream Guard's uniform just made me proud of what I do," Edden told Forces TV. " I just thought I would give him a chance to have a picture for himself for his own memories."

It'll certainly be a memory that Marshall, who loves documentaries about the royal family and wants to be a Queen's Guard when he's older, will never forget.
