Designers Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard are ready to get dressed up, board a flight and travel (anywhere), and their resort collection — shot against airport elements (an airplane window, chairs, trolley and suitcases) — reflects that.

The collection started with the same questions the duo asks themself each season, “where is she going? What does she need.”

“When we’re on the road, we see how’s Chicago looking, how’s L.A. looking, how’s the girl dressing? Where is she going? Our whole career has been spent figuring out her lifestyle and figuring out the pieces for her. This is exactly what this shoot is again. It’s going in her shoes because we are her, we feel her,” Miele Beard explained.

The duo addressed their customer’s needs — for the workplace, dinners and future travels — while upholding the brand’s core of unfussy tomboy-meets-polished feminine wardrobing.

The look: A slight ’70s nod (in silhouette) ran throughout the mix-and-match assortment of refreshed wardrobe staples.

Quote of note: Resort for us was imaging being able to travel again — the complete refresh that we all want in our wardrobe, what that looks like now and how there’s going to be a casualization of clothes on one and a total ramp-up in glam on another end,” Swanson Beard mused over a Zoom call.

Key pieces: An emphasis on reworked outerwear: a reversible plaid utility jacket, a tromp l’oeil puffer and blazer coat, or a little boxy tweed jacket; suiting, too, was casualized and often reworked (like a pinstriped blazer with denim inserts). Seventies, flared bell-bottom jeans and easy, printed frocks for day-to-evening.

The takeaway: Something that’s so core to our brand is living and doing, getting out there and going after what you love,” Swanson Beard expressed. Their customer will be able to do just so again, stylishly.
