Vernon Kay has dismissed speculation that he and Tess Daly have split, after an Instagram follower expressed concern on his social media page.

On Tuesday 26 November, the radio DJ and producer posted a snapshot of his and Tess’s two children standing on a beachfront with their backs to the camera. The pair, silhouetted by a sunset in the distance held up their hands to form hearts above their heads.

Alongside the upload, Kay wrote: “After being in the Middle East for a week, no better feeling than coming home.”

But despite the loved-up caption, one fan took to the comments section to say it felt like he and the Strictly Come Dancing presenter are “living separate lives.”

They added: “I hope not. Love you guys.”

Squashing the sentiment, Kay responded to the onlooker directly, saying: “Pictures of our family life are all labelled nicely on an iPad or in Apple photo books for us to share, as a family. No need to invite the world into our home life, as some do, but it’s not for us. We are 100. Thanks for asking.”

Daly backed him up, by adding a couple of heart emojis and the words, “My birthday trip. Special memories.”

Another follower did too, typing: "Just because you and Tess are in the public does not mean you can't have a private life. Stay strong you two lovely people (not that I know you both!!)."

Kay and Daly have been married since 2003. The twosome welcomed their first daughter, Phoebe, in October 2004. Their second, another daughter named Amber, was born in May 2009.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 continues on Saturday 30 November at 7:10pm on BBC One.
