Vera Wang called 'ageless' as she celebrates 73rd birthday in crop top and mini skirt

Vera Wang has been praised by fans for her "ageless" looks after sharing photos of herself wearing a crop top and mini skirt at her 73rd birthday party.

The fashion designer celebrated her birthday earlier this week and marked the occasion with a pink-themed karaoke party, which she later documented via a series of posts and images shared to her Instagram profile.

"Celebrating my Bday with CAKES and KARAOKE…… and my new ROSÉ PROSECCO!!!!!!" she wrote in the accompanying caption.

While the ritzy party looked like an amazing way to ring in your special day, it was Wang's age-defying looks that many fans couldn't help but comment on.

"I’m not gonna look like that at 73. Wow," one user wrote.

"We thought J lo stayed looking young this lady is 73!!" another agreed.

"Ageless birthday beauty," yet another fan wrote.

In an earlier post sharing further pictures of the party one fan asked: "Dang girl what's your ageless secret!"

"Happy bday, you always look so amazing and young, is it the Rose?" another asked.

It isn't the first time Wang's youthful appearance has caused something of a buzz.

On her last birthday, fans were equally as surprised by her age-defying looks, with many wondering if the fashion designer is in fact ageing backwards.

"It is literally impossible to me that you look this good at 72," one person commented on the post. "Please tell us your secret to being ageless. I'm begging!"

"Happy birthday! You were clearly given the gift of immortality because look at you! 72? More like 27," added another. "You've never aged."

"Happy birthday you look like you're 20," another user wrote.

Earlier this year Wang opened up about ageism, explaining that she believes the concept is “so old-fashioned”.

The fashion designer revealed in an interview she never thought of “going way out of my way” to preserve her youth “in a fanatical, obsessive way”.

Her comments came after an image of her wearing a fitness bra in lockdown caused something of a stir on social media with some describing it as being “age-defying”.

The image was just one of a whole range of posts she shared on Instagram during lockdown, leaving fans amazed she is a septuagenarian.

Wang said she was “shocked” at the attention the photograph garnered: “I didn’t think of myself as being particularly risqué," she told the BBC.

"I mean, it's nice that people thought that about me. It's very complimentary and I'm very grateful for that," she continued.

The designer went on to say that since the photograph went viral, she has been asked for the “secrets” of her youthfulness, with one being the power of a good night's rest.

“I’ve got to be really honest, one of them is sleep,” Wang said, before revealing another more surprising secret.

"I value having a vodka cocktail at the end of the day. Because it helps me to transition from a very intense work schedule to a bit of a private life."

Turns out working hard is a contributing factor of the designer's youthful looks too.

Although genetics likely play a part in Wang’s youthful appearance, she has also previously shared some of her secrets.

After one Twitter user said they’ll “have whatever Vera Wang is drinking” the designer decided to reply letting them into her secret.

“Diet Coca Cola... typical on a NY fashion type," she admitted.
