When we experience the powerful Venus square Pluto astrology transit on August 26th — with Venus in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn — the zodiac signs will be challenged to face all of our insecurities about love.
Venus is the planet of love and Pluto is the planet that rules the subconscious and all that is hidden below the surface. When these two come together, it’s not about roses and sunshine but about bringing the darkness to light so that not only will we be better people, but we will also build better relationships.
Right now we see Venus in Libra, which has us focusing on the balance that exists within our relationships, or the lack there of. However, this focus could also be internal. This may mean that the imbalance we feel may not be because someone isn’t giving us their all, but rather that we doubt whether we could return the time and attention they're giving us. We may also question our worthiness, especially because our deepest insecurities may be brought up.
Pluto is known as the lord of the underworld; anything that we try to keep buried or deny from ourselves ultimately will end up coming up. Pluto in Capricorn is a different kind of energy.
Yes, there is the aspect of bringing to the surface what was hidden, but because Capricorn is all about building and taking small steps towards growth, we also will be seeing a way out of this.
One of the most difficult things we can do is look at the darkness we have within ourselves and face the scars that our past relationships have left on our hearts. In this case, because of the recent eclipse season we can expect that whatever transits we experience will automatically feel more intense and will hold greater meaning for us.
At the time of this transit, Mercury will be turning direct which will benefit us. While a lot of darkness may arise for us, we will be able to use our thinking and communication skills in order to process and clear whatever comes up.
The one risk that we run is the reluctance to what comes up for us, which will only magnify the issue, not actually make it so we don’t have to deal with it. To get the most out of this transit, we have to remain open to whatever arises, specifically our most protected thoughts.
Sometimes it seems that many of us actually fear getting what we want more than repeating old cycles, despite how we might outwardly object to them. In this case, we’re really blocking ourselves from having our needs met because we are afraid that we don’t deserve it or that it will actually last.
Our deepest insecurities are always the path to healing, especially in terms of relationships. While many of us look at relationships as a state of bliss and love, the healthiest relationships will trigger us to deeper knowing and healing of our past wounds.
Relationships that are growth-oriented will bring up our past issues of abandonment, rejection, unworthiness, or even the desire to please others. This occurs not so we quit during the difficult times but so we learn how to talk and process through things to heal what hurts.
This means that we will have to be willing to have hard conversations, communicate our needs, and talk about the process we’re moving through so we don’t alienate our partner during this important phase in our relationships.
Ultimately though, the love that Venus holds is so strong that nothing can really ruin it, not even our insecurities brought up by Pluto. However, it is up to us to work through it. We are only ever in control of ourselves and never another, so if it’s your partner who is being triggered, remain grounded and don't take their actions personally. They are doing the best they can, even if it may feel like their best is not good enough.
We can’t judge another’s process through healing just as we shouldn’t judge our own. We can only make the choice to be present, to show up and to continue to have courage to face everything that arises.
The only way that we will experience higher levels of intimacy in our relationships and continue to grow as individuals is if we make the choice to believe that everything happens for a reason and deal with whatever comes our way.
In love, one of the hardest things that we encounter is the belief or worry that we don’t deserve the love we are seeking. We hold our past mistakes against us and believe that it’s an indication of what we will behave like in the future, all while forgetting that we should forgive ourselves like we would someone we love.
We have to love ourselves, to forgive ourselves for making choices we may regret, or for acting in a way less than our highest selves.
During the Venus square Pluto transit, it’s likely we will have somewhat serious conversations in our relationships and will have to work through some of our issues to have the relationship itself progress. It’s also possible that because of conversations that take place, we also make some big decisions regarding marriage.
The thing we have to remember is that the love we desire is possible, it is real, but we have to believe that we’re worthy of it, because no one, not even “the one,” can make us believe that if we haven’t done the work for ourselves.
