Vampire Diaries actors Paul Wesley and Matthew Davis got into a mini Twitter feud during last night’s vice presidential debate.
Matthew reportedly thought Mike Pence didn’t get enough time to speak.
Much can be said about Kamala Harris and Mike Pence’s vice presidential debate last night—her hair spoke volumes, the fly was symbolic, fracking = bad for the environment—and former Vampire Diaries costars Paul Wesley (who played Stefan Salvatore) and Matthew Davis (who played Alaric Saltzman) got into a tiff voicing their opinions about it on Twitter.
Apparently, as Matthew watched, he was most bothered by Donald Trump’s running mate allegedly not having enough speaking time. In since-deleted tweets, Matthew suggested Pence was interrupted too much by the moderator. Calling out Pence, Paul responded, “It would also be nice if Pence answered the question he was originally asked rather than deflecting.”
Things quickly escalated from there with Matthew claiming, “Paul likes to vote for criminals and losers, just like he did in 2016. Your opinion on the matter carries little weight as far as I’m concerned. Next.” He later deleted that too.
To try and shut down Matthew’s claims, Paul then made a TVD joke and said, “Guys, Alaric drank some vervain. He’s losing it,” which was a reference to the herb that characters used to protect themselves from being controlled by vampires. BTW, Paul also made sure to clarify that he did not vote for Trump in 2016.
This virtual argument also involved Matthew taking jabs at Paul’s fans and sarcastically calling them “super classy” and signaling his boredom by typing “yawn.” It seems that at that point, Paul decided to move on and finished with, “Lighten up baby boy u know u miss me. @ImMatthew_Davis love you buddy.”
