At Valentino Couture, Pat McGrath Puts a Glittering Twist on Old Hollywood Glamour

The golden age of the silver screen siren may be long past, but Pat McGrath is catapulting it into the future.

Today at the Valentino Daydream couture show at the Aman at Summer Palace in Beijing, the makeup visionary helped Pierpaolo Piccioli tell a fantastical fashion story that reached an above-neck crescendo when Chinese models He Cong and Cai Guannan hit the runway with their faces—and flashes of body—saturated in metallic silver glitter as they floated down the runway. Upping the ante on the gobsmacking glamour of her "silver screen siren" look, eyes were encased with out-to-there jet-black wings drawn on with Pat McGrath Labs Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner, and mouths stamped with MatteTrance Lipstick in blue red Elson, "crystalized" with matching crimson gems. The rest of the models were given a more pared back take on the shimmering graphic statements: model Bingbing Liu's eyes were traced with a dramatic cut-crease filled in with holographic flecks, and her lips painted scarlet with just a hint of shimmer.

Casting the splendor of decades past in eye-popping Technicolor, McGrath is serving up inspiration to dazzle—and lay the glitter on thick for some holiday revelry—as only she can.
