Fellow This Is Us fans, we’re back to waiting for new episodes … again.

Since returning from its winter hiatus in January, This Is Us has aired season 5 episodes rather sporadically. After airing two more episodes at the beginning of the year, the drama took a break and returned in February with four more episodes. Now, This Is Us is taking another break, which means there will not be a new episode tonight on NBC.

Last Tuesday, minutes after the East Coast finished watching the latest episode, This Is Us shared the upsetting news on Twitter, instantly disappointing viewers. “Why am I not surprised? You give us two weeks in a row, and you're out again. 🤦♀️ Completely frustrating,” one person wrote. “The wait will be excruciating,” another added. “ANOTHER break? 🙄,” a different fan said.

Even though it's understandable that people are upset, showrunner Dan Fogelman has said before that the unusual schedule is due to production delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic. In other words, while it's frustrating to have to wait again, it's most important that the cast and crew is able to proceed filming safely.

So when is This Is Us season 5 coming back in 2021?

This Is Us will return to NBC with a new episode on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 9 p.m. ET. This Is Us will be back with its twelfth episode of season 5, entitled "Both Things Can Be True." Fans will get to see flashback scenes of Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Miguel (Jon Huertas) bonding while Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Madison (Caitlin Thompson) navigate challenges as new parents in the present-day timeline.

Long story short, waiting is definitely a bummer, but there is plenty to look forward to next month. Besides, given the fact that season 6 will likely be the last season of This Is Us, we shouldn't be rushing to the end of season 5 — better to cherish every episode instead, no matter when they air.
