Urban Decay couldn’t have picked a better partner for their first-ever celeb collaboration, rocker Gwen Stefani has always had a passion for beauty. From her edgy looks fronting No Doubt in the 1990s (and still today) to her bold red carpet style, she’s never afraid to make a statement and this collaboration continues to prove just that.
The partnership with Stefani was a long time in the making. Urban Decay Chief Creative Officer and founding partner Wende Zomnir was a fan of Stefani’s since she first heard the 1995 No Doubt hit “Just a Girl” on the radio, while living in Laguna Beach. “I thought, that girl is so cool, I wish I could work with her,” Zomnir told Yahoo Beauty at a lunch in San Diego to announce the upcoming collection. “It took 19 years, but it happened.”

Zomnir and the team at Urban Decay worked closely with Stefani on the limited edition collection, collaborating on everything from colors and formula to packaging. “She really knows what she’s doing in terms of makeup,” says Zomnir. “We even sat down with the guy who does her makeup all of the time and worked with him.”
Stefani’s love for beauty is no secret. She frequently gives shout outs to her glam squad on Instagram (she even brought them on stage at her Kaaboo Music Festival show on Friday to sing them Happy Birthday) and her Harajuku Lovers fragrance collection continues to grow. “Everyone in my life knows I absolutely love makeup. From a very young age, it was an artistic passion of mine. I actually used to be a makeup artist,” Stefani said in a statement. “I love wearing makeup and having so many ways to express myself through it. It’s my war paint. To be able to do a collaboration with people who get that concept and who are just as passionate about it is a dream come true. We’ve made and created products that I actually wear every single day. It’s the real thing. I’m obsessed with everything we’ve done, and I can’t wait to share it.”
The collection launches on November 22, just in time to make it on your holiday wish list.
