Alongside her incredible life of public service as a reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II also welcomed four children, with her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. To say she was close with her family would be an understatement – something that the husband of her granddaughter Princess Beatrice, Edo Mapelli Mozzi, has just shone a light on. Along with his tribute, Edo also shared a previously unseen photo of Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh on the day of his nuptials to Beatrice.
Taking to Instagram, Edo shared that the loss of Queen Elizabeth (who passed away yesterday aged 96) is being felt acutely in their household, but added that he was incredibly grateful that his and Beatrice's daughter, Sienna, was able to spend time with Britains longest-serving monarch prior to her death.
In a post including five photos of the Queen taken throughout the years, Edo wrote: "Incredibly hard to process the last 24 hours. What an incredible woman and extraordinary mark she’s left on the entire world. She was the rock on which modern Britain was built."
He added, "Feeling very lucky that our little ones got to spend wonderful time with her this summer. Rest is Peace Your Majesty. We will miss you so much. Brokenhearted 💔".

In the photo, Her Majesty and her longterm partner, who she once described as her "strength and stay", can be seen outside the All Saints Chapel, Great Windsor Park, where Princess Beatrice and Edo, who has his own links to nobility via his Italian heritage, tied the knot two summers ago.
The couple look happy and relaxed together at the event, which had to be scaled back due to the coronavirus pandemic putting a limit on the number of people able to legally attend the celebrations.
Photographer Benjamin Wheeler, who captured the picture, commented underneath Edo's post, sharing his own fond memories of the day and Her Majesty, writing, "Beautiful words Edo, I am so deeply sorry to you both and your families at this sad time. Feeling so honoured to have met Her Majesty on your wedding day and taken these photographs with you all. Sending love ❤️".
