United We Stand: A look back at the impact of ‘The Ali Summit’ 51 years later

United We Stand is a documentary which tells the story of the athletes who stood together during the height of the Civil Rights movement to support Muhammad Ali in his fight for justice against the U.S. government. Through candid interviews with Jim Brown, John Wooten, and Bobby Mitchell — as well as archival interviews with Ali himself — this film illustrates the impact of “The Ali Summit” in 1967. The film also explores the parallels of today’s climate, with African-American athletes speaking up and taking a stand on their beliefs, while also being labeled troublemakers and distractions.
